State Traditions Thirsty Thursday: Mississippi Punch

Each week we highlight a different drink from a state or region. This week we're heading to Oxford, Mississippi for a drink that's great as a cocktail or mixed in large batches as a punch. 

Mississippi Punch supposedly got its start at a fraternity party in Oxford, MS in the 1980s. Apparently the guys threw whatever they had in a bowl and this dangerous cocktail was born. Lemon Juice and Simple syrup hide the punch from 4 oz of alcohol. 

Recipe:

  • 2 oz Cognac
  • 1 oz Bourbon
  • 1 oz Dark or Spiced Rum
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • 2 oz Simple Syrup
  • Shake and Serve over ice
